Ernest Brogya Gyemfi has expressed gratitude to President John Dramani Mahama following his appointment as Presidential Adviser on National Resilience and Emergency Preparedness.
In a statement shared on Facebook, Mr Gyemfi thanked President Mahama for the confidence placed in him, recalling his earlier appointment as Deputy Minister for Defence.
He said he was particularly grateful to the President for entrusting him with responsibilities at the Ministry of Defence following the death of his then boss, Dr Edward Kofi Omane Boamah, and seven other people in a helicopter crash.
Mr Gyemfi said he was given the responsibility to “hold the fort” under the supervision of Finance Minister Dr Cassiel Ato Forson for a year following the incident.
“I assure the President of my unwavering loyalty and dedication in discharging my duties in this new capacity,” he said.
The newly appointed adviser also expressed appreciation to the directors and staff of the Ministry of Defence, the Military High Command and the Ghana Armed Forces for their support during his tenure.
He extended his gratitude to the Armed Forces Council, Defence Industries Holding Company (DIHOC) and the Veterans Administration, Ghana, for what he described as their steadfast support throughout his service.
Mr Gyemfi’s new role will focus on national resilience and emergency preparedness, as he transitions from his previous responsibilities at the Ministry of Defence.
His appointment follows his service as Deputy Minister for Defence, a position in which he assumed additional responsibilities after the helicopter crash that claimed the lives of Dr Omane Boamah and seven others.
