The Federation of Kumasi Traders has officially conveyed heartfelt condolences to His Royal Majesty Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, the Asantehene, and the entire Asanteman following the peaceful demise of the revered Asantehemaa, Nana Ama Konadu Yiadom III.
The solemn news was delivered by Otumfuo Osei Tutu II during an emergency meeting of the Asanteman Council on Thursday, August 7, 2025.
The Asantehemaa passed away peacefully, prompting widespread mourning within the Ashanti Kingdom and among well-wishers worldwide.
In a press release signed by Nana Prempeh, President of the Federation of Kumasi Traders, the union acknowledged the significant role Nana Ama Konadu Yiadom III played in the advancement and unity of Asanteman.
“The Federation of Kumasi Traders expresses deep condolences to the Asantehene and the entire Asanteman on the passing of the Asantehemaa, Nana Ama Konadu Yiadom III.
“We acknowledge her invaluable contribution to the development of Asanteman and her role in fostering unity and development within Asanteman,” the statement read.
The traders union emphasized the deep sorrow felt across the commercial community, recognizing the void left by her passing.
They pledged to honor her legacy by upholding the values she championed, particularly in promoting the prosperity of traders and the wider Asante society.
The Federation affirmed, “We aim to honor her legacy by continuing to support the values she championed ensuring
prosperity of traders and the broader Asante Community.
“In this time of mourning, we reaffirm our commitment to uphold the traditions and customs of the great Asante Kingdom,” the Federation added.
The Federation of Kumasi Traders concluded by declaring “Nana Ama Konadu Yiadom III, Da Yie.”
In observance of the mourning rites, details have been announced regarding the One Week Celebration in honor of Asantehemaa Nana Ama Konadu Yiadom III.
The ceremony is scheduled for Thursday, August 21, 2025, at Bogawe in Manhyia Palace, running from 12 noon to 6:00 PM.
In addition, Manhyia Palace has mandated a ban on all funerals throughout Asanteman on the day of the One Week Celebration. This directive ensures that the Asantehene and the people of Asanteman can solemnly commemorate the memory of their beloved Asantehemaa without disruption.
