Five people have been confirmed dead following a fatal accident involving a Toyota Noah minibus and a tipper truck at Asikuma Junction in the Asuogyaman District.
The tragic incident occurred on Tuesday night, claiming the lives of the victims on the spot.
According to reports, the Toyota Noah collided head-on with the tipper truck under circumstances yet to be determined. The impact left the vehicles mangled, trapping several passengers inside.
Personnel from the Ghana National Fire Service (Peki Station) quickly arrived at the scene and managed to rescue four victims, including a child, from the wreckage.
They were rushed to the Peki Government Hospital for emergency treatment.
The bodies of the deceased have been deposited at the hospital’s morgue for autopsy and identification, while investigations are underway to establish the cause of the crash.
Authorities have since cautioned motorists to exercise caution and adhere to road safety regulations, especially along the Asikuma stretch, which has become notorious for accidents.
