The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration has formally expressed concerns over the difficulties faced by Ghanaian visa applicants when visiting embassies, high commissions, and consulates in the country.
In a diplomatic circular addressed to all accredited diplomatic and consular missions, the Ministry decribed the reports of unfair treatment of visa applicants, including the lack of proper waiting areas, long delays in securing appointments, and inadequate support for urgent inquiries.
According to the statement, some applicants are forced to wait outside embassies without proper shelter, leaving them vulnerable to harsh weather conditions.
The Ministry noted credible reports indicating that visa appointments could take up to six months to secure, causing significant inconvenience for travelers.
Furthermore, the statement pointed out the absence of emergency service avenues for applicants who require urgent assistance or face difficulties using embassy websites for visa applications.
“These issues are of deep concern to the Ministry, and it will be appreciated if necessary action could be taken to ameliorate the challenges with a view to providing applicants with improved services,” the Ministry stated.
The Foreign Affairs Ministry urged embassies and consulates to take immediate steps to address these concerns, ensuring that visa applicants receive fair and efficient services.
