Afrifa Yamoah Ponko, the former Chief Executive of the Ejisu Juaben Municipal Assembly and a prominent figure in Ghanaian politics, has passed away. He died on the afternoon of Sunday, October 6, 2024.

Though the cause of death has not yet been officially confirmed, sources within the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in Ejisu say he passed away earlier today.

In addition to his role in local governance, Afrifa Yamoah Ponko was also a key figure in sports administration, having served as a member of the management team of Kumasi Asante Kotoko, one of Ghana’s most successful football clubs.

His passing marks the end of a notable career in both public service and sports management.
