Actress Afia Schwarzenegger has made explosive allegations against former Finance Minister Amin Adams.
According to Schwarzenegger, Adams orchestrated last-minute payments totaling a staggering GHC640 million to Kennedy Agyapong, the former Member of Parliament for Assin Central.
These transactions, she claims, were facilitated in consultation with current Finance Minister Ato Forson.
Schwarzenegger’s accusations suggest that Adams’ motivations for these payments are deeply rooted in his political ambitions.
She alleges that Adams is maneuvering to secure a running mate position in the New Patriotic Party (NPP) for the 2028 elections.
She alleged “when Kennedy Agyapong came to meet you, Amim Adams, you informed him to see Ato Forson. Ato Forson gave you the go-ahead to pay GHC640 million because you, Amin Adams, want to be a running mate. You want to run alongside Kennedy Agyapong and Bryan Acheampong as well.”
By supporting both Kennedy Agyapong and Bryan Acheampong, who are potential candidates for the NPP flagbearer position, Adams aims to bolster his chances of becoming a key figure in the party’s leadership.
The actress also raised eyebrows by questioning why Adams allegedly prioritized Agyapong’s payment of GHC640 million over another individual, Nkansah Boadu, who was owed a significantly smaller amount of GHC160 million.
“Why is it that Nkansah Boadu, whose amount was GHC160 million, was not paid, yet you paid GHC640 million to Kennedy Agyapong and also paid Bryan Acheampong, so that they can have the funds to become the NPP flagbearer and make you a running mate?”
This disparity, Schwarzenegger argues, highlights a pattern of selective favoritism that undermines transparency and fairness in political dealings.
Schwarzenegger accused Ato Forson of complicity in these transactions, claiming that he took a cut from the payments despite publicly distancing himself from the allegations.
“Ato Forson has come out distancing himself from making such payments, but he took his cut of the money to allow you to pay the amount to Kennedy Agyapong”, she stated.
In a bold statement, Schwarzenegger declared her financial independence, asserting that she cannot be bribed easily. She revealed that she has substantial funds in her bank accounts and would only consider a bribe of $1 million, a move seen as a challenge to those who might attempt to silence her.
“I have money in my accounts. In my Bank of America account, I have over $14,000, and in the other one, I have over $8,000. I am not someone you can bribe. Bribing me is not easy. If you, Gabby, want to bribe me, I’ll take $1 million. I told your PA that maybe he doesn’t have the courage to tell you. I’ll take $1 million if you want to bribe me. If you’re ready, let’s talk business”.
