The Gbinyiri Mediation Committee has presented its final report on the longstanding inter-communal conflict between the Gonja and Lobi/Brifors communities in the Sawla-Tuna-Kalba area.

The Minister for the Interior, Alhaji Muntaka Mohammed Mubarak, disclosed in a Facebook post that he received the report from the committee’s chairman, Mr. Emmanuel Bombande.

He commended the committee for its dedication and hard work, expressing confidence that the document would contribute to lasting peace and stability in the area.

According to the minister, the committee was established in September 2025 and tasked with identifying practical measures to foster cooperation, promote peaceful coexistence, and resolve tensions between the Gonja and Lobi/Brifors communities.

He described the report as a roadmap for rebuilding relationships, strengthening tolerance, and enhancing social cohesion in Gbinyiri and its surrounding communities.
Mr. Bombande, on behalf of the committee, expressed appreciation to the President, the Minister for the Interior, the Overlord of Gonja, and other stakeholders for their support throughout the mediation process.
The inter-communal tensions in the Sawla-Tuna-Kalba area have raised concerns over security and social stability in recent months, prompting calls for sustained dialogue and collaborative solutions.
The government is expected to review the committee’s recommendations and outline steps toward their implementation in the coming weeks.
