The Ghana Education Service (GES) has announced that approval has been granted for the payment of salary arrears owed to newly recruited teachers.
According to a statement issued by GES and signed by its Head of Public Relations, Daniel Fenyi, the approval was provided by the Ministry of Finance in collaboration with the Controller and Accountant General’s Department (CAGD).
The arrears cover eligible teachers whose salaries accrued between August 1, 2024, and November 2025, following the utilisation of the 2024 financial clearance.
GES indicated that the payments will be made in instalments over a four-month period to ensure efficiency and transparency in the disbursement process.
Under the schedule, beneficiaries will receive four months’ arrears in May 2026, another four months in June, followed by similar payments in July and August.
Management has directed Regional Directors to communicate the payment plan to Heads of Schools to ensure that all affected staff are informed.
The Service expressed appreciation to teachers for their patience and reaffirmed its commitment to staff welfare.
