The Ghana Education Trust Fund (GETFund) has donated three cross-country vehicles to the Ghana National Research Fund (GNRF) in a move aimed at strengthening research operations and improving access to field sites across the country.
The vehicles — a Toyota Pickup, a Toyota Land Cruiser and a Toyota Prado — are expected to significantly enhance the GNRF’s logistical capacity, particularly for research activities in remote and hard-to-reach areas.
GETFund said the donation forms part of its broader strategy to support national development by equipping key institutions responsible for education and research with critical operational resources. Improved mobility, the Fund noted, will enable researchers to conduct fieldwork more efficiently and engage directly with communities nationwide.
Receiving the vehicles, the Administrator of the GNRF, Professor Abigail Opoku Mensah, expressed appreciation to GETFund, describing the donation as timely and impactful. She said the vehicles will greatly improve staff movement and access to research sites, a major challenge in executing nationwide studies.
According to her, the support will help the GNRF advance high-impact research programmes and deliver on its mandate to contribute to Ghana’s development through innovation and evidence-based policy support.
The donation underscores growing collaboration between GETFund and the GNRF, both of which see research as a critical driver of sustainable national growth. With enhanced operational capacity, the GNRF is expected to expand its research footprint, deepen stakeholder engagement and strengthen partnerships across sectors.
GETFund officials say the initiative reflects the Fund’s continued commitment to building a resilient research ecosystem to support Ghana’s long-term development goals.
