Interior Minister, Alhaji Muntaka Mohammed Mubarak, has held a high-level meeting with the Colombian Ambassador to Ghana, His Excellency Daniel Garcés Carabalí, to discuss key areas of bilateral cooperation.
The meeting, which took place in Accra, focused on security, prison reforms, and disaster management, reflecting the two nations’ commitment to strengthening diplomatic ties.

According to the Interior Minister, security was a primary topic of discussion, as both Ghana and Colombia face challenges related to crime and violence.
The meeting underscored the need for enhanced security measures to maintain stability in both countries.
A significant part of the conversation also addressed Ghana’s prison congestion crisis, which has posed challenges to rehabilitation efforts.
The two officials explored strategies for improving correctional facilities, including prison reform programs aimed at ensuring humane conditions and preparing inmates for reintegration into society through vocational training.

Additionally, the meeting highlighted the importance of enhancing disaster management strategies to better equip both nations for natural calamities.
The discussions emphasized how collaborative efforts could improve national preparedness and resilience in the face of disasters.
“The exchange underscored a mutual recognition that working together can lead to improved welfare outcomes and increased resilience against security threats and natural disasters,” the Minister stated.
