Ghana’s Ambassador to South Korea, Kojo Choi, has welcomed National Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Johnson Asiedu Nketia, and Chair of the Executive Council of the Africa Governance Centre (AGC), Benedicta Lasi, to Seoul for an Inter-Continental Dialogue among Political Parties Conference.
In a statement posted on Facebook, Ambassador Choi described the gathering as an important political dialogue between Africa and Asia, saying it provided an opportunity for political parties, democratic institutions and governance leaders from different continents to exchange experiences and discuss common challenges.
He said the significance of the engagement could be traced to Accra, where the AGC, in partnership with the Government of Ghana, organised the inaugural African Political Parties Summit (APPS 2025) in August 2025.
The summit brought together political leaders and representatives from Africa and beyond to promote interparty dialogue, democratic governance and political cooperation.
According to Ambassador Choi, the summit culminated in the adoption of the Accra Declaration, which he described as an important step towards institutionalising political dialogue across Africa.
He said the discussions that began in Accra had now extended beyond the continent to Seoul, creating an avenue for continued engagement among political communities.
“This is no longer a conversation confined to governments and traditional diplomacy,” Ambassador Choi said, noting that political parties, democratic institutions and governance leaders were increasingly engaging directly across continents.
He said the Seoul dialogue offered Ghana an opportunity to share its democratic experience and perspectives as part of a broader global conversation on the future of democracy.
Ambassador Choi further described the engagement as an opportunity to strengthen links between political communities in Africa and Asia.
He said the movement of the dialogue from Accra to Seoul demonstrated the potential for sustained intercontinental political cooperation beyond conventional government-to-government relations.
