The management of the Ghana Police Service has assured Kumasi Asante Kotoko of its commitment to investigating the murder of a club supporter at Nsuatre over the weekend.
During a meeting with the club’s management and supporters’ union, the Inspector General of Police (IGP), Dr. George Akuffo Dampare, expressed his condolences and reaffirmed the police administration’s dedication to ensuring justice.
The IGP disclosed that a team of experts has been deployed to Nsuatre, with the support of the Bono Regional Police Command, to thoroughly investigate the incident.
Addressing the police delegation, the Interim Board Chairman of Asante Kotoko blamed the police personnel assigned to maintain security during the match between Kotoko and Nsuatreman FC for acting unprofessionally.
Nevertheless, he expressed confidence in the police to conduct a professional investigation into the matter.
Samuel Sarfo Duku, legal aid to the club, commended the police for their swift response to the incident.
However, he urged the Ghana Police Service to increase its presence at various league centers to enhance security and ensure effective policing.
The police administration has reiterated its commitment to bringing the perpetrators to justice and has assured the public of regular updates on the case.
