The government has presented seven outboard motors to fishermen affected by a recent pirate attack in Senya Bereku, fulfilling a pledge made by President John Dramani Mahama during his State of the Nation Address.
The presentation ceremony took place in the Awutu Senya West Constituency and was led by a government delegation representing the President. The team was joined by the Minister for Fisheries and Aquaculture and Member of Parliament for Shama Constituency, Emelia Arthur.

The intervention forms part of the government’s broader commitment to support victims of maritime insecurity and help restore livelihoods in coastal communities impacted by the attack.
Officials said the donation underscores government’s dedication to safeguarding the fishing industry, strengthening community resilience, and protecting the welfare of citizens whose livelihoods have been disrupted.
The government also expressed appreciation to community members and stakeholders who offered support to the victims in the aftermath of the incident.
