Ernest Owusu Bempah, the National Deputy Communication Director of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), has attributed the party’s poor performance in the 2024 general election to internal divisions and a lack of respect among the national campaign team.
In a post-election review on Accra-based Okay FM, Owusu Bempah criticized the campaign strategy, accusing it of sidelining experienced grassroots members and centralizing decisions among a select few.
“The campaign was dominated by a small group of individuals who excluded many capable members of the party,” he said. “As a National Deputy Communication Director, I was not assigned any specific role in the campaign. Even during the campaign period, many of my colleagues in national leadership refused to take my calls.”
He further questioned the involvement of key party executives in the electoral efforts. “What roles did our National Organizer, General Secretary, and others play in the campaign? Some individuals hijacked the process and shut out those of us who could have contributed meaningfully. This lack of inclusivity is why we are now discussing the party’s worst electoral defeat.”
Owusu Bempah’s remarks reflect growing frustration within the NPP following their disappointing performance in the elections. He urged the party to reflect on these mistakes to rebuild unity and regain the trust of its grassroots members.
