The Ministry of Energy and Green Transition has announced that the Ghana Grid Company Limited (GRIDCo)’s 161-kilovolt (kV) Aboadze–Tarkwa transmission line has been damaged, prompting immediate repair efforts to restore power supply.
According to the Ministry, a maintenance team from GRIDCo has been swiftly deployed to the affected site and is currently working around the clock to repair the damaged infrastructure.
The Ministry cautioned that the incident could lead to temporary power supply disruptions in parts of the Western and Ashanti Regions, particularly in Tarkwa and Kumasi, while the repair works continue.
In a statement issued on Thursday, the Ministry assured the public that all necessary measures are being taken to restore normal operations as soon as possible.
“We wish to assure the general public that every effort is being made to repair the damage and normalise the situation,” the statement said.
“The Ministry deeply regrets any inconvenience this may cause and remains committed to restoring full service promptly.”
The cause of the damage has not yet been disclosed, but GRIDCo engineers are expected to provide further updates as repair works progress.
