Ghana Water Limited (GWL) in the Ashanti Region has confirmed technical difficulties at the Barekese Water Treatment Plant following a blast in the plant’s high-lift section.
In a press release issued, it was explained that the incident damaged one of the three pumps in operation, leading to reduced water flow and pressure across the regional distribution network.
“The Barekese Water Treatment Plant is currently experiencing technical challenges following a blast that occurred at the high-lift section of the plant.
“This incident has also affected one of the three pumps in operation, thereby reducing the water flow and pressure to the city,”the statement emphasized.
“Engineers of GWL are working tirelessly to ensure the pump is repaired as soon as possible to normalize the flow and pressures in the distribution network,” the statement added, “However, the technical team is managing the available volume to enhance the flow and pressures to better serve our customers adequately.”

They acknowledged the inconvenience caused by the disruption but urged customers to remain patient.
“We understand the importance of a reliable water supply and are committed to resolving this issue as quickly as possible. Management sincerely apologizes for the inconvenience this situation has caused and appreciates your understanding and patience as we work to resolve these technical challenges.”
Ghana Water Limited reaffirmed its commitment to providing uninterrupted water services to its customers in the Ashanti Region.
“We are dedicated to ensuring that our customers receivethe water services they deserve,” the statement concluded.
