The Ministry of Health has referred a case of alleged medical misconduct at the Trauma and Specialist Hospital in Winneba to the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) and the Attorney General’s Department for further investigation.
This decision follows a probe by the Ghana Health Service, which revealed that certain hospital staff mishandled a patient, leading to her abandonment and eventual death.
Due to the seriousness of the findings, the Ministry is seeking additional investigations to ensure accountability and uphold healthcare standards.
In a press statement signed by the Ministry’s Public Relations Officer, it was noted that all recommendations adopted by the Ministry were based on the findings of the Ghana Health Service’s investigative committee.
The Ministry also urged the public and stakeholders to access the full committee report on their official website.
