The Health Facilities Regulatory Agency (HeFRA) has directed the Tamale Technical University Hospital to resume operations following a successful re-inspection of the facility.
The directive comes three weeks after the Agency ordered the temporary closure of the hospital on November 7 due to concerns over compromised infection prevention conditions.
According to a statement signed by HeFRA’s Acting Registrar, Dr. Winfred Korletey Baah, an inspection team revisited the facility on November 24 and conducted a comprehensive assessment of its compliance with healthcare standards.
The Agency reported that the review of the inspection findings, along with further engagement with the hospital’s management, met the minimum requirements for provisional approval.
HeFRA has since issued the hospital a six-month provisional operational licence, granting the institution temporary authorization to provide healthcare services while improvements continue.
The Agency has also ordered the management of the hospital to resume service provision effective Saturday, November 29, 2025.
HeFRA noted that it will maintain close monitoring of the facility to ensure continued compliance with national healthcare standards and to determine its future licensing status.
The Agency reaffirmed its commitment to protecting public safety through strict regulation of healthcare service providers.
