The Government of Ghana has announced the burial arrangements for the two Muslim victims of the August 6 military helicopter crash.
In accordance with Islamic tradition, Janazah prayers will be held on Sunday, August 10, 2025, at 2:00 p.m. at the Forecourt of the State House in Accra.
The prayers will be followed by burial at the Military Cemetery at 2:30 p.m.
The rites will honour Dr. Ibrahim Murtala Muhammed, Minister for Environment, Science, Technology and Innovation, and Member of Parliament for Tamale Central and Alhaji Limuna Muniru Mohammed, Acting Deputy National Security Coordinator
The tragic crash, which occurred in the Adansi Akrofuom District of the Ashanti Region on Wednesday, August 6, claimed the lives of eight people, including high-ranking government officials and military officers.
In the wake of the disaster, the government declared a three-day national mourning period starting Thursday, August 7.
The mourning activities have included a solemn flower-laying ceremony and an evening of reflections attended by mourners from across the country.
Victims of the crash include Dr. Edward Omane Boamah, Minister for Defence, Dr. Ibrahim Murtala Muhammed, Minister for Environment, Science, Technology and Innovation, and MP for Tamale Central, Alhaji Limuna Muniru Mohammed, Acting Deputy National Security Coordinator, Dr. Samuel Sarpong, National Vice Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Samuel Aboagye, former parliamentary candidate, Squadron Leader Peter Bafemi Anala, Flying Officer Manin Twum-Ampadu and Sergeant Ernest Addo Mensah.
