Inspector General of Police Christian Tetteh Yohuno has made a heartfelt appeal to the local youth to embrace peace.
During a visit on April 11, IGP Yohuno emphasized the importance of collaboration between the police and the community, highlighting the resilience and dedication of the people of Bawku.
This visit follows recent clashes between police and local youth, which have raised serious security concerns in the area.
The Inspector General of Police announced plans for a special recruitment drive targeting the youth of Bawku.
“When it comes to recruitment, we will give the people of Bawku priority. We will give the youth of Bawku priority, and so for that matter, a special team will come here to do special recruitment for the youth of Bawku,” he stated
IGP Yohuno also called on residents to report any grievances or mistakes made by the police, assuring swift corrective actions to improve collaboration and trust.
“I know how hardworking people from this area are. So we are pleading with you just let us know where we are going wrong so we can quickly correct those things and make sure that you continue to work with our people diligently,” he urged
The IGP sought forgiveness for any wrongdoing by the police, pledging not to repeat past mistakes.
He said “Where, by mistake, we have done something wrong, forgive us. We won’t repeat those things again”.
