The Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Mr. Christian Tetteh Yohuno, has announced major command changes within the Ghana Police Service, reconstituting the Police Management Board to enhance operational efficiency and strategic management.
In a press release issued by the Public Affairs Directorate, the IGP detailed the new appointments, which affect key departments, regional commands, and specialized directorates. The reshuffle aims to improve law enforcement operations, strengthen leadership, and ensure effective policing across the country.
Among the notable appointments, COP Mrs. Maame Yaa Tiwaa Addo-Danquah has been reassigned as Director-General of Research & Planning, while COP Dr. Ernest Kwabena Owusu takes charge as Director-General of Services. COP Mr. Daniel Kwame Afriyie will now head Private Security Operations, and DCOP Dr. Sayibu Pabi Gariba assumes the role of Director-General of Technical Services.
Additionally, COP Mr. Mohammed Fuseini Suraji has been designated Director-General of the National Patrol Department, while COP Mr. Michael Nketia Frempong takes over as Director-General of Finance. The restructuring also sees DCOP Dr. David Agyeman Adjem overseeing Administration, with DCOP Mr. Vance Gariba leading Operations.
Furthermore, the IGP has made several regional and departmental appointments to improve governance and ensure a more decentralized command structure. Notable among them is ACP Mrs. Grace Ansah-Akrofi, who has been appointed Director of the Public Affairs Directorate, and DCOP Dr. Francis Kwame Tsidi, who now heads the Western North Regional Command.
The police leadership shake-up comes as part of broader reforms to strengthen law enforcement, enhance security, and improve service delivery nationwide. The IGP extended his best wishes to all officers in their new roles and urged them to remain committed to professionalism and public safety.
