Interior Minister and Member of Parliament for Asawase Constituency, Alhaji Muntaka Mohammed Mubarak, has expressed deep sorrow over the death of Nana Konadu Yiadom III, the Asantehemaa and Queen Mother of the Asante Kingdom.
In a statement issued on his Facebook page, Alhaji Muntaka extended his condolences to His Royal Majesty, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, the Asanteman Council, the people of Asanteman, and the nation at large.
He described the Queen Mother’s passing as “a profound cultural and emotional loss for Asanteman and for Ghana as a whole.”
The minister praised Nana Konadu Yiadom III for her “kindness, humility, wisdom, and fairness,” noting that she was a compassionate leader who resolved disputes with empathy and equanimity.
He added that the late Queen Mother embodied “maternal grace, traditional wisdom, and heartfelt service to her people.”
“May her legacy continue to inspire strength, compassion, and cultural pride across the Asante Kingdom and beyond,” the statement read.
Nana Konadu Yiadom III, revered across Ghana for her leadership and cultural influence, served as a symbol of unity within the Asante Kingdom.
Her death marks the end of an era in traditional leadership.
The minister concluded his tribute with the traditional farewell: “Da yie, Ohemaa. Damirifa due.”
