The Minister for the Interior, Alhaji Mohamed-Mubarak Muntaka, has reiterated the government’s commitment to enhancing peace and security in Ghana.
This means the Ghana Police Service continue playing a crucial role in achieving this goal.

Speaking during his working visit to the Police Headquarters in Accra, the Asawase MP, emphasized that the government, under the leadership of President John Dramani Mahama, is dedicated to strengthening the country’s security architecture.
He outlined a comprehensive plan to review and reform Ghana’s national security system, ensuring professionalism and efficiency within the Police Service.


“As stated in the government’s manifesto, we have a clear plan to critically assess the entire national security structure and implement necessary reforms. These reforms will focus on equipping the Police Service with the necessary tools and training to effectively carry out its mandate, ensuring the safety and security of all citizens,” he said.

The Minister further assured the Police Service of the government’s plan to insulate it from political interference, ensuring that officers can perform their duties independently and professionally.

Additionally, he disclosed that a nationwide resource audit of the Police Service would be conducted to identify and address operational challenges.
During his visit, Hon. Muntaka commended the Ghana Police Service for its dedication to protecting lives and maintaining law and order, particularly during the recent election period.

He pledged his support for the Service in its efforts to enhance security across the country.

Inspector-General of Police (IGP) Dr. George Akuffo Dampare reaffirmed the Police Service’s commitment to upholding its constitutional duty, ensuring a peaceful and secure environment for all Ghanaians.

To mark the occasion, an all-female Guard of Honour was mounted in the Minister’s honour.
He also toured key facilities, including the GH Police TV studios, the newly built Police Shop, and the Surveillance Centre.

The visit underscored the government’s dedication to strengthening the operational capacity of the Police Service, ensuring it remains a professional and well-resourced institution capable of safeguarding the nation.
