A senior academic and long-time communications strategist of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Ishaq Kyei-Brobbey, has officially declared his intention to contest for the position of Ashanti Regional Communications Director ahead of the party’s internal elections.
In a statement issued on Wednesday, January 1, 2026, Mr Kyei-Brobbey said his decision was motivated by the need for strong, disciplined and competent leadership to reposition the party and lead its comeback in the 2028 general elections.
According to him, political comebacks are deliberate and must be driven by strategic clarity and effective communication, particularly at the regional level. He said the NPP requires experienced and tested hands to realign its message with electoral victory.
Mr Kyei-Brobbey outlined his academic and professional background, noting that he has served Ghana’s tertiary education sector for more than two decades, teaching at the Ghana Institute of Management and Public Administration (GIMPA), Kumasi Technical University (KsTU) and the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST). He said his experience as a Head of Department and board member has equipped him with leadership, consensus-building and team management skills relevant to political organisation.
He also highlighted his long-standing service to the NPP, having served in various roles including Patron of TESCON at KsTU, member of the Ashanti Regional Communication Team, supervisor for constituency elections and member of the Ashanti Regional Research Team.
Mr Kyei-Brobbey said he has volunteered extensively during elections, working as a polling station agent and as part of the Regional Collation Centre team in both parliamentary and presidential polls. He added that he has supported party campaigns across the Ashanti Region and worked on several campaign committees.
The aspiring Communications Director said his years of engagement have given him deep insight into constituency dynamics and grassroots politics in the region, describing himself as a familiar figure to party members through consistent service rather than public profile alone.
He further pointed to his experience in the media space, saying he has represented the NPP for over 14 years on radio, television and social media platforms. He listed several media outlets on which he is a regular panelist, particularly on discussions relating to the economy, finance and public policy, and noted that he has received formal political communication training from the party.
Outlining his vision, Mr Kyei-Brobbey said leadership of the Communications Directorate must be firm, inclusive and results-oriented, with deliberate investment in capacity building, media relations, internal cohesion and rapid conflict resolution.
He stressed that unity and teamwork within the party are essential, adding that Ashanti Region must play a leading role in restoring the NPP to power in 2028.
Mr Kyei-Brobbey said he was ready to lead the Ashanti Regional Communication Team at what he described as a critical moment for the party, expressing confidence that a renewed communication strategy would strengthen the party’s base, broaden its appeal and deliver electoral victory.
