Former President and National Democratic Congress (NDC) flagbearer, John Dramani Mahama, During a fellowship with the clergy in Accra, made a firm declaration against the promotion of LGBTQ+ practices in Ghanaian schools and communities.
John Mahama, who emphasized his Christian faith, particularly as a proud member of the Assemblies of God Church, reassured the audience that LGBTQ+ agendas would not be supported under his leadership.
“I am a proud member of the Assemblies of God Church, and my faith does not commit to same-sex marriages or relationships,” Mahama reiterated. He expressed that his values, deeply rooted in his religious beliefs, would guide his policy decisions. The former president assured the clergy that, if elected, his administration would not tolerate the promotion of LGBTQ+ issues in schools and public spaces, aligning with the country’s cultural and religious sentiments.
Mr. Mahama went further to promise that his next administration, the “NDC-Mahama administration,” would focus on implementing sound policies aimed at improving the lives of Ghanaians.
He outlined plans to alleviate economic hardships and reset the nation’s economy, bringing it back on a trajectory of transformation and progress.
The National Democratic Congress leader’s remarks underline a clear stance on social and moral issues, while also presenting his vision for economic recovery and development, should he win the December 2024 elections.
