The General Secretary of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Lawyer Justin Frimpong Kodua, on Friday paid a strategic working visit to the Akwatia Constituency in the Eastern Region, reinforcing the party’s commitment to securing victory in the upcoming by-election.
Arriving in the Akwatia township around midday on August 1, the General Secretary was welcomed by the Eastern Regional Secretary, constituency executives, and the NPP Parliamentary Candidate, Mr. Solomon Kwame Asumadu.
The visit formed part of the party’s broader strategy to intensify campaign activities and evaluate on-the-ground preparations.
In a closed-door meeting held at the NPP Constituency Office, Lawyer Kodua reviewed campaign progress and reiterated the need for a disciplined, transparent, and united front.
According to party sources, his visit was also to ensure full implementation of strategic directives previously issued by the party’s national leadership.
As part of his outreach, the General Secretary and his entourage visited three popular social joints within Akwatia to introduce Mr. Asumadu to residents and interact with constituents.
The engagements, marked by enthusiasm from locals, aimed at galvanizing support for the NPP ahead of the polls.
The team later proceeded to Akim Wenchi for further consultations with grassroots members and local opinion leaders as part of efforts to consolidate the party’s support base in surrounding areas.
News of the General Secretary’s presence quickly spread, attracting large crowds and culminating in an impromptu rally.
The event, which drew hundreds of party faithful and residents, was addressed by key party figures and boosted momentum for the NPP’s campaign.
Among those accompanying the General Secretary were Henry Nana Boakye, National Organizer, Ebenezer Nartey, former MP for Ablekuma Central, Henry Quartey, former Minister for the Interior, and Baba Seidu, Assistant Secretary for Greater Accra Region
The visit has been widely described by party insiders as a morale booster and a strong demonstration of the General Secretary’s commitment to a decisive NPP victory in Akwatia.
