The Member of Parliament (MP) for Kumawu constituency, Ernest Yaw Anim, has refuted claims about his alleged poor attendance in Parliament, describing such reports as factually inaccurate and misleading.
In a post titled “A MATTER OF FACT: SETTING THE RECORDS STRAIGHT” on his official Facebook page, Hon. Anim he highlighted discrepancies between two media outlets, Citi News claiming he was absent for 21 days and JoyOnline for 11 days. He questioned the sources of their information.
“These two conflicting figures alone raise a fundamental question: what is the source of their information, and which of the two media houses is quoting the facts?,” the Mp asked.
Hon. Anim affirmed his active participation in parliamentary activities, including plenary sittings, and his ongoing commitment as Chairman of the Human Rights Committee and member of the Public Accounts Committee before and after parliamentary recess.
He further noted that parliamentary procedures require MPs to formally seek leave for unavoidable absences, a process he has consistently followed.
“Hon. Anim has always complied with this established procedure,” the post added.
The Kumawu MP called on the media, particularly Citi News, to verify attendance records from official parliamentary sources and urged them to issue corrections to uphold fairness, accuracy, and journalistic integrity.
“In the interest of fairness, accuracy, and journalistic integrity, we expect a retraction and clarification at the earliest opportunity,” he concluded.
