Renowned social commentator and political activist, Kwame Asare Obeng, popularly known as Kwame A Plus, has disclosed that he is at the center of intense political lobbying by the two major political parties in Ghana—the New Patriotic Party (NPP) and the National Democratic Congress (NDC).
According to a statement he made on Facebook, the NPP, led by NPP Presidential candidate hopeful Kennedy Ohene Agyapong, has officially reached out to discuss aligning with him in Parliament.
The proposal comes with enticing agreements, including a bold commitment not to contest the Gomoa Central parliamentary seat in the 2028 elections should A Plus decide to side with them.
Meanwhile, the NDC, the party A Plus has expressed a natural affinity toward, has also scheduled a meeting with him tomorrow at 8 a.m. This meeting, he revealed, will be pivotal in shaping his decision on which political group he will align with.
“I have friends in both the NDC and NPP, but they must understand that I will have to disappoint someone tomorrow,” A Plus candidly remarked. “Deep down, my heart leans toward the NDC, but I will ultimately side with whoever has my interest at heart and provides the best offer for me and the people of Gomoa Central.”
The activist’s statement has sparked widespread interest and speculation in political circles, as many await the outcome of the upcoming meeting with the NDC and whether it will sway his decision.
Kwame A Plus, known for his forthrightness and advocacy for the welfare of ordinary Ghanaians, has been vocal about the need for leaders to prioritize the interests of their constituents.
His declaration emphasizes his commitment to securing the best deal not just for himself but also for the people of Gomoa Central.
With both the NPP and NDC keenly pursuing his support, the political landscape in Gomoa Central could see significant shifts depending on where A Plus ultimately places his allegiance.
