LALIGA has successfully completed the tender process for the residential broadcasting rights of LALIGA EA SPORTS in Spain for the 2027/28 to 2031/32 cycle, securing revenues exceeding €5.25 billion.
This achievement reflects a 6% increase from the previous cycle, which generated €4.95 billion, underscoring robust growth in Spain’s top football league broadcasting sector.
The total domestic audiovisual rights revenue for LALIGA during this new cycle is projected to reach €6.135 billion, marking a 9% rise compared to the 2022–2027 period.
This figure includes €5.25 billion from first division residential broadcasting, alongside €650 million from commercial premises (HORECA), €175 million from LALIGA HYPERMOTION second division rights, and €60 million from free-to-air broadcasts and highlights.
The growth across these categories highlights the sustained expansion and durability of LALIGA’s commercial rights model.
Telefónica and DAZN have been awarded the rights to broadcast five matches per matchday over the five seasons, further strengthening their roles as key strategic partners.
Their high-quality coverage and innovative programming have significantly increased viewership and match attendance in recent years.
The continuity of this five-year contract ensures stability and enables long-term strategic planning and sustained broadcaster investment, supporting the financial health of participating clubs.
Javier Tebas, President of LALIGA, praised the results, stating that the over €6.135 billion domestic rights value and 9% overall growth reinforce the financial sustainability of Spanish professional football.
He emphasized that this success is notable amid a global environment where media rights values are often declining.
Tena’s attributed the growth to the strength of LALIGA’s product, broadcasters’ confidence driven by the league’s effective anti-piracy measures, and clubs’ efforts to improve audiovisual content and fan engagement.
The tender outcome was achieved through a strategic approach based on enhancing the audiovisual product, investing in technology, comprehensive anti-piracy enforcement protecting revenues, and foresight in navigating UEFA’s new commercial landscape.
This approach has cemented LALIGA’s leadership in the competitive media market while continuing to deliver value to fans, clubs, and broadcasters alike.
