Ghana’s Minister for Lands and Natural Resources and Acting Minister for Environment, Science and Technology, Emmanuel Armah-Kofi Buah (MP), has arrived in Brazil to lead Ghana’s delegation to the 30th Conference of the Parties (COP30) to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC).
The two-week global summit, scheduled to take place in the northern Brazilian city of Belém from November 6 to November 21, 2025, will bring together world leaders, negotiators, civil society groups, and climate stakeholders to deliberate on key issues relating to climate action, nature conservation, and sustainable development.
As leader of Ghana’s delegation, Mr. Buah is expected to deliver Ghana’s national statement at the Summit of Heads of State on Thursday, November 6, 2025, on behalf of the President, H.E. John Dramani Mahama.
According to a statement issued by the Ministry of Environment, Science and Technology, Mr. Buah’s address will highlight Ghana’s climate priorities, commitments, and expectations for strengthened global cooperation in tackling the climate crisis.
Ghana’s delegation will also participate in ministerial dialogues, negotiations, and other scheduled engagements throughout the conference period.
The Ministry emphasized that Ghana’s participation in COP30 underscores the government’s commitment to environmental sustainability, climate resilience, and international collaboration.
“Ghana’s participation in this crucial conference is a mark of the government’s commitment to safeguarding the environment through knowledge sharing, rich dialogue, and mutually beneficial relationships with allied countries,” the statement read.
The conference is expected to focus on implementing the global stocktake outcomes from COP29, mobilizing climate finance for developing countries, and advancing renewable energy and adaptation strategies across vulnerable regions, including Sub-Saharan Africa.
