A tragic gun attack in Gambaga has left a Level 400 student of Gambaga College of Education dead and another in critical condition.

The incident occurred at approximately 11:30 p.m. on Wednesday, March 12, 2025.

The deceased, identified as Salifu, a Kusasi native from Zebilla, was reportedly returning from a DSTV viewing center, where he had watched the UEFA Champions League match between Real Madrid and Atlético Madrid.

According to eyewitnesses, Salifu was engaged in a discussion with friends about the game’s outcome when two unidentified gunmen arrived on a motorbike.

The assailants singled him out and shot him at close range before fleeing the scene.

Police later arrived and transported the body for further investigations. Another student, who sustained gunshot wounds during the attack, is currently in critical condition.

This incident comes just two weeks after a similar attempted attack on another Kusasi student in Gambaga. That attack, however, was unsuccessful.

Authorities have yet to establish a motive for the latest attack, and an investigation is underway.
