President John Dramani Mahama has called on members of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) to remain calm, united, and disciplined as the government continues to announce Metropolitan, Municipal, and District Chief Executives (MMDCEs) across the country.
In a message to party faithful, President Mahama urged supporters to refrain from acts that could damage party property or tarnish the image of the NDC, emphasizing that appointments are part of a broader strategic process.
“We must remember that every candidate whether selected or not contributed in their own way to our collective victory,” he said.
“Your preferred candidate may have worked hard, but so did others. In politics, choices must be made, and not everyone can be selected at once.”
He reminded members that the party’s ultimate loyalty must be to its values and vision, not to individual aspirations.
“We have a party to grow, a legacy to protect, and a nation to serve. Let’s channel our energies into building, not breaking supporting, not sabotaging,” the former President stated.
Mr. Mahama underscored the importance of unity, especially at a time when the party is preparing for future electoral battles.
“Now more than ever, unity is our strength. Let’s prove that we are a party of maturity, vision, and discipline,” he added.
His remarks come amid growing tensions and isolated protests in some constituencies following the release of MMDCE lists, with some party members expressing dissatisfaction over the selection process.
President Mahama’s call seeks to de-escalate tensions and rally members behind the party’s broader goals as it looks ahead to future political contests.
