President John Dramani Mahama has marked the first anniversary of his December 7 election victory with a message of gratitude to Ghanaians and a renewed pledge to advance his administration’s #ResettingGhana agenda.
In a statement issued by the Presidency on Saturday, the President reflected on the events of the 2024 elections, describing them as a defining moment when “Ghana spoke with one powerful voice.”
He expressed appreciation for the trust placed in him by millions of voters, noting that their determination on election day reaffirmed the country’s collective desire to “reclaim our future.”
“I remember the anxiety, the hope, and the unwavering faith of millions of Ghanaians who stood in those voting queues,” he said.
“You believed in the promise of a #ResettingGhana agenda.”
Tribute to NDC Supporters and Election Teams
President Mahama extended special acknowledgment to the rank and file of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), whom he described as “the heartbeat of this victory.”
He praised polling agents who monitored voting centers across the country, serving as the party’s “eyes and ears.” According to the President, their vigilance helped counter attempts to undermine the electoral process.
“That clarion call to go to the polls with our ‘own referee’ was exactly what it needed to be,” he said, emphasizing that the strategy helped neutralize the ruling NPP’s “calculated attempts” to disrupt the will of the people.
He also commended party executives, campaign strategists, the election management team, and volunteers whose efforts ensured that “the voice of the people could not be silenced.”
Pledge to Build an Inclusive Ghana
Mahama reiterated his commitment to building “a Ghana for ALL our people, without discrimination, without exclusion, without favouritism.”
He stressed that the vision of “The Ghana We Want” remains a work in progress, not a deferred dream.
The President assured citizens that his administration, together with Vice President Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang, is working daily to restore hope, create opportunities, and rebuild public trust in national institutions.
“My commitment to the #ResettingGhana agenda remains steadfast,” he stated.
Message to the NDC Base
Addressing the NDC grassroots directly, President Mahama urged members to remain steadfast, noting that the reward for their dedication goes beyond political appointments.
He framed the party’s mission as building a country where justice prevails and where opportunities are available to all.
“The journey continues. The work goes on,” he concluded.
