John Dramani Mahama, the flagbearer of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), has called on the New Patriotic Party (NPP) government to begin preparing for its departure from office. Addressing the NDC’s manifesto launch at the University of Education, Winneba, on Saturday, August 24, Mahama emphasized that the damage inflicted by the NPP on the nation’s economy necessitates a transfer of power to the NDC, which he pledged would work to restore what has been lost.
“We, the members of the National Democratic Congress, are here to reaffirm our commitment to democratic governance and to declare that the time is up for this administration,” Mahama stated. “It’s time for them to go.”
The former president accused the NPP of undermining Ghana’s democracy, stating, “They have decimated our democracy beyond recognition, destroyed families and livelihoods, and pushed millions into poverty. Your vote on December 7 will end this tyranny, cronyism, corruption, and hardship, and it will pave the way for vision and trustworthiness to return to the Flagstaff House.”
Mahama urged the NPP to start drafting their handing over notes if they have not already done so, signaling his confidence in an NDC victory in the upcoming election.
