Mahama warns Ministers to uphold humility and respect for Ghanaians

President John Dramani Mahama has cautioned newly appointed ministers to avoid arrogance and disrespect in their dealings with the Ghanaian public. The resident warned that his administration will not tolerate such behavior.

Speaking during the swearing-in ceremony for his first batch of ministers confirmed by Parliament, President Mahama underscored the importance of humility and prudence in public service.

He urged the appointees to remain grounded and prioritize the needs of the citizens who entrusted them with leadership.

“This government will not tolerate arrogance or disrespect for the people who elected us into office. Modesty and prudence must be the guiding principles upon which you, myself, and our Vice President fashion our governance,” the president stated.

He further stressed the need for tolerance and attentiveness to public concerns. “We must exhibit tolerance for their views and work to meet their aspirations. The citizens will demand the highest standards of governance, and we cannot afford to fail them,” he added.

Addressing the six Members of Parliament who have now assumed ministerial roles, President Mahama warned that the era of dismissive and disrespectful attitudes by government officials was over.

He made it clear that there was no room for complacency, saying, “Your performance in office cannot be business as usual.”

The newly sworn-in ministers include; Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson, Minister for Finance Dr. Dominic Ayine, Attorney General and Minister for Justice,  John Jinapor, Minister for Energy and Green Transition, Haruna Iddrisu, Minister for Education, Eric Opoku, Minister for Food and Agriculture and Governs Kwame Agbodza, Minister for Roads and Highways

President Mahama is expected to announce additional ministerial appointments as Parliament continues to vet and approve his nominees.
