Prominent Ghanaian actress, television host, and musician Felicity Ama Agyemang, popularly known as Nana Ama McBrown, has publicly disclosed that she has been divorced from her husband, Maxwell Mensah, for over two years following a 12-year marriage.
In a candid interview on OnuaTV with host Captain Smart monitored by Kumasimail, McBrown opened up about the end of her marriage, emphasizing her deliberate approach to personal matters.
“I am not the person that lies. I am the type that gives herself time to do something,” she stated.
“All the things I go through, I don’t react right there whether through friendship, family, or workplace. A matter I will react straight away is something that needs to be dealt with.”
McBrown revealed she has endured significant challenges over the past two years but chose to handle the separation amicably.
“I have been through a lot for the past two years. Me and your brother Maxwell, if people will divorce like how we did, it would be nice,” she said, adding, “Still, Maxwell respects me, I also respect him. I don’t take him for granted.”
The actress expressed exhaustion from maintaining secrecy, noting, “But it’s just that I can’t hide it anymore. I’ve kept it for two years and three months; it’s okay, I’m tired.”
When pressed by the host about the timeline “You’ve divorced for two years and three months?”, McBrown confirmed, “Yes. I’m tired of keeping it a secret.”
Despite the divorce, McBrown highlighted the amicable nature of their split after knowing each other for 15 to 16 years.
“We’ve divorced nicely. I am the only person that has divorced but still goes to the house I divorced from,” she shared.
“I still have a room there; I can go there and sleep, but I won’t. But I sometimes go there to have fun and look at my children.”
McBrown and Mensah tied the knot 12 years ago and share a daughter, Maxine.
The couple’s separation had not been publicly announced prior to this interview, catching many fans by surprise given McBrown’s high-profile status in Ghanaian entertainment.
