The Minority in Parliament has dismissed President Akufo-Addo’s directive prohibiting the sale of state lands without his explicit authorization, calling it “hopeless” and asserting that state capture is already well underway.
During a “Meet the Press” encounter, Minister for Lands and Natural Resources, Samuel Abu Jinapor, revealed that a cabinet directive had been issued to prevent the sale of public lands. He also assured the public that all state lands remain intact, contrary to claims of state capture.
However, in a swift rebuttal, the Chairman of the Government Assurance Committee, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, argued that the President’s directive only serves to confirm the Minority’s concerns about state capture.
The North Tongu MP referenced findings from a report by Sole Commissioner on State Lands, Justice Ofori-Atta, which implicates certain government officials in the improper handling of state lands.
