The Member of Parliament for Asawase Constituency, Alhaji Muntaka Mohammed-Mubarak, has launched the 3M Foundation, a charitable organisation aimed at sustaining healthcare, educational and social support interventions for residents of the constituency in the Ashanti Region.
The foundation is expected to provide a framework for continuing existing community initiatives, including eye screening, breast cancer screening, scholarship support and interest-free loans, while creating opportunities to expand assistance to underprivileged individuals and families.

Speaking to the media at the launch, Alhaji Muntaka said the initiative was driven by the need to ensure that programmes he had championed over the years would continue beyond his tenure as Member of Parliament.

He explained that after more than two decades of serving the people of Asawase, it was important to establish a sustainable system that would prevent the interventions from ending when he eventually leaves office.
According to him, the foundation would help bridge the gap that could emerge when he is no longer able to provide the same level of direct support to constituents, particularly as his responsibilities as a minister limit the time available for personal engagement with residents.

“The intention behind this foundation is to ensure the sustainability of most of the interventions we have carried out in Asawase,” he said.
Healthcare at the centre of the foundation
Alhaji Muntaka identified healthcare as one of the foundation’s immediate priorities, with particular emphasis on eye screening, breast cancer screening and support for patients requiring further treatment.
He noted that several of the existing health interventions had been funded through his personal resources and those of his associates, enabling residents to access screening and, in some cases, surgical treatment without charge.
He said the foundation would seek sustainable sources of funding, including investments capable of generating revenue to support its activities over the long term.

The MP explained that although previous editions of the health outreach programme had focused on Asawase, the initiative had expanded its reach in the previous year to support people beyond the constituency, including assistance for breast cancer surgeries.
He expressed optimism that the foundation would strengthen these efforts and create the capacity to reach more beneficiaries.
Education and livelihood support
Beyond healthcare, the M3 Foundation is expected to support educational opportunities through scholarships and provide assistance to individuals seeking to establish or improve their livelihoods.

Alhaji Muntaka said the foundation would gradually expand its activities as it secures sufficient resources to finance additional programmes.
He explained that the objective was to build an institution capable of supporting families and vulnerable individuals through education, healthcare and start-up assistance.
The MP also indicated that some of the community interventions he had supported through his parliamentary office could gradually be incorporated into the foundation’s activities to ensure a more coordinated and sustainable approach.
Call for support from fellow MPs
Alhaji Muntaka called on fellow Members of Parliament who operate similar community support initiatives to consider establishing sustainable structures that would allow their programmes to continue beyond their time in office.

He stressed that the foundation was intended to operate independently of his parliamentary tenure, using the networks, partnerships and experience he had developed over the years to establish a lasting institution.
He expressed hope that the 3M Foundation would eventually have the capacity to sustain and expand the interventions currently serving constituents.
The launch marks an effort to institutionalise community-based support in Asawase, with the foundation expected to focus initially on healthcare while gradually broadening its work in education and social welfare.

Its long-term impact will depend on its ability to mobilise sustainable funding, maintain effective management and ensure that assistance reaches the people who need it most.
