Member of Parliament for Asawase, Muntaka Mohammed Mubarak, has announced the commencement of the second phase of his Annual Free Eyecare and Breast Cancer Screening Exercise, expanding the initiative’s reach beyond the Asawase Constituency to ten other constituencies within the Greater Kumasi enclave.
The health outreach program, which begins on Tuesday, October 28 and runs until Friday, November 14, 2025, follows a highly successful first phase that covered all 15 electoral areas in Asawase.
The maiden edition screened over 4,000 residents and facilitated thousands of National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS) renewals.
The second phase aims to extend these essential health services to thousands more residents across Kumasi, focusing on early detection and prevention of eye and breast-related conditions.
According to the schedule released by the organizers, the outreach will offer free eye screening, breast cancer screening, and NHIS renewals at selected community centers and mosques within the 15 target areas. The exercise will run daily from 8:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
Among the listed venues are Mallam Abdul Wadud Mosque (Akurem–Mempeasem), Roxy Cinema (Manhyia South), Achiase School, SAD Islamic School (Abirem), Moshie Zongo Park (Manhyia North), and Adabraka Islamic School (Tafo 2), which will host the final screening on November 14.
In a statement, the organizers emphasized that the outreach forms part of Muntaka Mubarak’s ongoing commitment to improving community health and ensuring equitable access to preventive care.
“Let’s protect our sight and save lives together,” the campaign message urged, encouraging residents to take advantage of the free services.
