The Metropolitan Chief Executive (MCE) of the Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly (KMA), Richard Ofori-Agyeman Boadi, has revealed that his wife has been supporting him financially as he awaits the processing of his salary.
Speaking in an interview with Kojo Marfo on Abusua Nkommo on Abusua 96.5 FM, Mr. Boadi admitted that some newly appointed Chief Executives are under pressure from their constituents and associates due to delays in receiving official remuneration.
“Sometimes, colleagues call to ask when our pay will come,” he said. “I told one of them to expect it around April 2026.”
When asked by the host why their salaries had not yet been disbursed, Mr. Boadi explained that the delay stemmed from administrative processes within the public service system.
“In government work, it’s a system,” he said.
“You need to be registered and captured before payments can be processed. You can go for your IPPD registration and follow up with the Controller, but most of us are very busy, so it takes time. I haven’t even had the opportunity to complete mine,” he stressed.
Mr. Boadi lightheartedly added that he was not overly concerned about the delays.
“Even if my salary doesn’t come, it’s fine,” he said.
When asked how he managed his expenses, he replied, “My wife takes care of me.”
“Even this morning, you should see the number of bed sheets I packed into the car before coming here,” he added.
He also mentioned that he continues to operate his private businesses alongside his public duties.
“I’ve not closed all my shops,” he disclosed. “Only the one at Tafo is closed, but those at Dichemso, Adum, and Kejetia are still running.”
