The Savannah Regional Director of the National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO), Zakaria Mahama, has led a team to deliver additional relief support to communities affected by the recent Gbiniyiri conflict.
The visit, which took place over the weekend, formed part of NADMO’s ongoing efforts to bring humanitarian aid and restore normalcy to conflict-affected areas in the Sawla-Tuna-Kalba District. Food items and essential supplies were distributed to residents who continue to recover from the impact of the clashes.
Speaking during the exercise, Mr. Mahama reaffirmed NADMO’s commitment to supporting displaced and vulnerable families. “We are determined to stand with the affected communities and ensure that relief reaches everyone in need,” he said.
He further appealed to residents to maintain peace and unity to promote lasting stability in the area. “Our region can only move forward if we work together and avoid actions that lead to division and conflict,” he added.
Mr. Mahama noted that NADMO is collaborating with district authorities, traditional leaders, and other local stakeholders to coordinate ongoing relief operations and prevent future emergencies.
During his visit, the Regional Director also inspected ongoing construction works on the chief’s palace at Gbiniyiri, describing the progress as encouraging and symbolic of recovery efforts taking shape across the district.
He assured the people that NADMO would continue to monitor the situation and provide additional support as resources become available.
