A new chapter has begun in the history of Asante Mampong following the official enstoolment of Nana Leslie Osei Bonsu III as the new Mamponghene.
The traditional ceremony, held at the Mampong Palace on Monday, December 5, 2026, saw Nana Osei Bonsu III formally sworn in after taking an oath to faithfully serve and protect the interests of the Mampong Traditional Area.
As part of the sacred rites, he was ceremonially seated on the Amaniampong silver stool, signifying his authority as the paramount chief.
The solemn occasion attracted a host of dignitaries, including the Ashanti Regional Minister, Dr. Frank Amoakohene, who attended to pay homage and congratulate the newly installed chief.
Numerous sub-chiefs were also present at the ceremony, publicly pledging their allegiance and assuring Nana Osei Bonsu III of their unflinching support in the discharge of his duties toward the development of the traditional area.
Speaking in an interview, the Ejura Kontehene, Nana Diasempa Antwi son of the late Mamponghene expressed strong confidence in the leadership and vision of the new Mamponghene.
He said Nana Osei Bonsu III is deeply committed to youth employment and infrastructural development, stressing that the chief is determined to pursue these priorities tirelessly.
Nana Diasempa Antwi added that the new Mamponghene bears a striking resemblance to his late uncle and has clearly drawn lessons from his leadership.
He further disclosed that Nana Osei Bonsu III has introduced an educational fund aimed at supporting brilliant but needy students, with scholarship opportunities expected to be rolled out in the near future.
According to him, the new paramount chief has also opened channels for citizens to submit ideas that could contribute to the progress and development of the Mampong community.
All sub-chiefs and okyeames have publicly pledged to respect and obey the authority of Nana Osei Bonsu III.
Nana Diasempa Antwi concluded by commending the youth of Mampong for their unwavering support, emphasizing their critical role in preserving and advancing the chieftaincy institution.
