The 2024 Vice Presidential Candidate of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh, has extended his condolences to the Mampong Traditional Council following the death of Daasebre Nana Osei Bonsu II, Mamponghene and occupant of the Silver Stool of Asanteman.

Dr. Opoku Prempeh, popularly known as NAPO, the former Minister for Energy and Member of Parliament for Manhyia South, visited the Asante Mampong palace to commiserate with Nana Mamponghemaa and surviving widow as well as the royal family and the people of Mampong.
Describing the late chief as a father figure, Dr. Opoku Prempeh noted that Daasebre’s passing is a significant loss not only to Mampong and the larger Asanteman community, but also to him personally.

“Nana’s passing is a great loss to Mampong and Asanteman, but I feel the loss most personally, because Daasebre was a father figure to me. I will miss his mentoring, counselling, and guidance,” he stated.

He further assured the Mamponghemaa and the royal family of his full support throughout the traditional doteyie (pre-burial rites) and the final funeral ceremonies.
The late Daasebre Nana Osei Bonsu II was a revered traditional leader known for his dedication to the development of Mampong and his service to the Asante Kingdom.
