Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh, Vice Presidential Candidate of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), has urged former President John Mahama to refrain from making critical remarks about revered chiefs, imams, and pastors.
NAPO, as he is popularly known, suggested that Mahama’s recent comments against religious and traditional leaders are a reflection of his growing frustration ahead of the December 7 general elections.
During a campaign stop in Ofoase, Juaben constituency, Dr. Opoku Prempeh accused Mahama of unjustly directing his anger towards respected leaders, labeling them as hypocrites for offering prayers and support.
NAPO argued that Mahama’s actions show a lack of respect for these figures and called on voters to reject him and the NDC.
NAPO emphasized his own approach of seeking the blessings and support of chiefs and religious leaders, stating that he values their guidance in the political process.
He assured supporters that he would continue to seek permission from chiefs before conducting campaigns in their communities out of respect for their authority.
In his appeal, NAPO urged voters to avoid supporting Mahama, citing the former president’s treatment of key figures in society as evidence of his disrespect.
