The Vice Presidential Candidate of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh, has called on Christian and Islamic clergy to pray fervently for Ghana’s peace and stability as the country prepares for the December Presidential and Parliamentary elections.
Speaking at a meeting with Christian clergy in the Ashanti Region, Dr. Opoku Prempeh reaffirmed Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia’s commitment to making religious leaders a key part of his governance, aligning with principles of inclusivity and national cohesion.
Dr. Opoku Prempeh emphasized the importance of prayer for the nation’s peace, stating, “Ghana is a country chosen by God to shine to the world. While that is a great blessing, we must recognize that without prayer, evil can befall the country.”
He expressed gratitude to the clergy for their steadfast intercessory prayers, which have consistently contributed to Ghana’s peace, especially during election periods.
Acknowledging the challenges of electioneering campaigns and the potential for chaos, Dr. Opoku Prempeh noted the critical role of divine intervention.
He also expressed optimism about prophecies surrounding the elections, adding that “the results will expose and separate fake prophets from those chosen by God.”
Additionally, Dr. Opoku Prempeh engaged with Islamic clergy in Kumasi, reiterating Dr. Bawumia’s dedication to maintaining national unity.
He highlighted the NPP’s foundation on diversity, where hard work and competence are the primary drivers of progress. He praised the party’s consistent efforts to unite the nation, reflected in its diverse leadership.
Dr. Opoku Prempeh assured the clergy of his unwavering loyalty to Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia’s transformative agenda.
He emphasized that Ghana must remain united, free from religious or ethnic divisions, as true development transcends such barriers.
“We are one people, bound by a common destiny,” he declared.
He further encourage Ghanaians to vote for Dr. Bawumia, describing him as an embodiment of unity and the best leader to ensure Ghana’s continued peace and progress.
