The National Democratic Congress (NDC) has reinstated its Central Regional Chairman, who was suspended for a month for taking unilateral decisions without consulting the national headquarters.
The reinstatement comes after the chairman sparked controversy by declaring the Assin Central Parliamentary Candidate unfit to contest due to allegations of an inappropriate relationship with the wife of the constituency secretary.
In a statement signed by party Chairman Fiifi Fiavi Kwetey, the NDC noted that the chairman’s suspension had elapsed and he was being reinstated pursuant to Article 48(9)(f) of the party’s constitution.
“The party will, however, monitor his comments and actions closely to ensure he does not jeopardize the party’s chances in the region ahead of the December 7 elections,” the statement added.
The reinstatement reflects the party’s commitment to maintaining discipline while giving members opportunities to make amends.
