The Minority in Parliament today accused President John Dramani Mahama of seeking a third term in office during proceedings on the floor of the house.

The claim came amid protests over the declaration of the Kpandai parliamentary seat as vacant.
NPP Members of Parliament staged a vocal demonstration, chanting “Mahama No Third Term” while holding placards bearing the same message.

The group also sang patriotic songs, including the National Anthem, to emphasize their stance.
Notably, the Minority has not provided any concrete evidence or explanation to support their assertion that President Mahama is pursuing a third term, nor has the president himself made any statement to that effect.
In a related development, the Minority called for the resignation of the Clerk of Parliament, Ebenezer Ahumah Djietror.
This demand followed Mr. Djietror’s official declaration that the Kpandai seat is vacant, based on a November 24, 2025, High Court ruling in Tamale.
The court ruling ordered a rerun of the Kpandai parliamentary election, effectively nullifying the initial results.
Subsequently, Mr. Djietror formally notified the Chairperson of the Electoral Commission about the vacancy, setting the stage for a by-election in the constituency.
