The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has constituted a team of zonal coordinators in the Ashanti Region to oversee political and organisational activities across the region’s 46 constituencies as part of preparations for the 2028 general elections.
The appointments, drawn from serving constituency chairmen, are expected to enhance coordination among constituencies, strengthen grassroots mobilisation and improve communication between the party’s regional and constituency structures.
Under the new arrangement, the 46 constituencies have been grouped into 10 operational zones, with each zone headed by a coordinator responsible for supervising party activities and supporting constituency executives.
For Kumasi Zone One, which comprises Asokwa, Nhyiaeso, Kwadaso, Oforikrom and Subin constituencies, Michael Adusei Bonsu, Constituency Chairman for Subin, has been appointed coordinator.
Kumasi Zone Two, covering Asawasi, Manhyia North, Manhyia South, Suame, Bantama and Old Tafo, will be coordinated by P. K. Asamoah, Constituency Chairman for Manhyia South.
Yeboah Karikari John, Chairman for Effiduase Asokore, will coordinate the Sekyere-Kumawu Zone, which includes Kumawu, Sekyere Afram Plains, Effiduase Asokore, Ejisu, Juaben and Afigya Sekyere East.
The Mampong-Nsuta Zone, comprising Ejura Sekyeredumase, Mampong, Nsuta-Kwamang-Beposo and Kwabre East, will be led by Victor Osei-Poku, Chairman for Nsuta.
Jacob Nyantakyi, Chairman for Akrofuom, has been named coordinator for the Adansi Zone, which covers Adansi Asokwa, Fomena, Akrofuom, New Edubiase, Obuasi East and Obuasi West.
The Amansie Zone, made up of Bekwai, Odotobri, Manso Nkwanta, Manso Adubia and Bosomtwe, will be coordinated by Joseph Asante, Chairman for Bosomtwe.
Abdul Salam Issah, Chairman for Atwima Nwabiagya North, will oversee the Atwima-Kwanwoma Zone, comprising Atwima Kwanwoma, Atwima Mponua, Atwima Nwabiagya North and Atwima Nwabiagya South.
The Asante Akim Zone, which includes Bosome Freho, Asante Akim North, Asante Akim South and Asante Akim Central, will be coordinated by Kyei Noah, Chairman for Asante Akim South.
Bismark Francis Osei, Chairman for Ahafo Ano North, has been appointed coordinator for the Ahafo Zone, covering Ahafo Ano North, Ahafo Ano South East and Ahafo Ano South West.
The Afigya Kwabre-Offinso Zone, comprising Afigya Kwabre, Afigya Kwabre North, Afigya Kwabre South, Offinso North and Offinso South, will be coordinated by Salathiel K. Takyi, Chairman for Offinso South.
The establishment of the zonal coordination structure forms part of the NPP’s broader strategy to strengthen party organisation in its electoral stronghold, improve coordination among constituency executives and intensify grassroots mobilisation ahead of the 2028 presidential and parliamentary elections.
Party officials expect the coordinators to facilitate effective communication, monitor organisational activities and support the implementation of programmes aimed at consolidating the NPP’s electoral fortunes in the Ashanti Region.
