The Vice Presidential candidate of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP), Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh, has expressed confidence in the party’s chances of winning the 2024 elections, attributing their success to divine intervention and the NPP’s track record of fulfilling its promises.
Speaking to traditional leaders and party supporters at Anum Apapam in the Ayensuano constituency of the Eastern Region, Dr. Opoku Prempeh emphasized that the NPP’s performance, particularly in areas like education, infrastructure, and healthcare, will secure their victory in the upcoming December 7 polls.
Ayensuano Constituency Key to NPP Victory
Addressing the crowd as part of his constituency campaign tour, Dr. Opoku Prempeh reaffirmed the party’s stronghold in Ayensuano, highlighting the support of communities like Anum Apapam. He stressed that the people are determined to protect the gains achieved under key government initiatives such as Free Senior High School (Free SHS), stable electricity supply, and the ongoing Agenda 111 hospital projects. He also pointed to the construction of new schools as part of the government’s development agenda.
Dr. Opoku Prempeh expressed optimism that the constituency will play a critical role in the NPP’s overall electoral victory, noting that the people of Ayensuano recognize Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia as the leader the country needs during this pivotal moment. He said the community’s commitment to voting overwhelmingly for the NPP would also ensure Ida Adjoa Asiedu’s election to Parliament.
NPP’s Track Record vs. NDC’s Governance
Dr. Opoku Prempeh urged Ghanaians to compare the achievements of the NPP with those of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) before casting their votes. He highlighted the NPP’s success in implementing several social intervention programs, including the Capitation Grant and the School Feeding Programme, which have improved the lives of Ghanaians.
In contrast, he criticized the performance of former President John Dramani Mahama, stating that under his leadership, the NDC failed to deliver meaningful progress for the country. Dr. Opoku Prempeh also attributed the challenges faced during the tenure of the late President John Evans Atta Mills to Mahama’s poor governance.
Calls for Unity and Support in Ayensuano
Hon. Kennedy Agyapong, a senior member of the NPP, also spoke at the rally, calling for unity among party members to reclaim the Ayensuano parliamentary seat. He praised the work of former MP Samuel Ayeh-Paye, urging constituents to support Ida Adwoa Asiedu, the NPP’s current parliamentary candidate, to continue the development efforts in the constituency.
Other key speakers included Dr. Kwabena Kokofu, a campaign aide for Dr. Opoku Prempeh, and former MP Ayeh-Paye, who both rallied the crowd to work hard for the party’s victory in both the parliamentary and presidential elections.
The NPP remains confident that its achievements in governance, coupled with a strong campaign, will resonate with voters and secure another term in office.
