The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has issued a directive to all its members, urging them to refrain from discussing internal party matters in the media, particularly those that create disaffection and unrest among party faithful.
In a statement signed by NPP General Secretary Justin Kodua Frimpong, the party acknowledged the disappointment and emotional distress among its members following its defeat in the last general election.
While recognizing the frustrations expressed on various platforms, the party leadership is calling for calm and unity to ensure a more constructive way forward.
“As an officer of the Party, mandated by the Party’s Constitution under Article 10(7)(5) to coordinate the activities and operations of the Party, please note that all Party members are hereby directed to immediately cease discussing Party issues that create unrest, negativism, and disaffection in the media and other related platforms,” the statement read.
The directive also cited Article 3(5) of the NPP Constitution, which enjoins members to promote and defend the good name of the party.
Leadership at the National, Regional, and Constituency levels has been instructed to refer any member who violates this order to the appropriate disciplinary committees for action.
This move comes amid growing internal debate and criticism following the party’s loss in the last elections.
Some party members have openly expressed dissatisfaction with the leadership and strategies that led to the electoral defeat. The directive appears to be an effort to maintain party cohesion and prevent further public airing of grievances.
The NPP leadership is urging all members to uphold the party’s values and focus on rebuilding a stronger and more united front for future elections.
